Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his position following a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with outcomes this poor.”

He concluded, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to the top, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
