The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.

“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life free from concern.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a first responder, was named for the current slang trend of young people shouting “6-7” – originating from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so widespread that a prominent word reference recently made “6-7” its top term for the year.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the character of Miami: vibrant, varied, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Each year, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
