Which Three Gunners Assets to Select v Wolves? FPL Lineup of the Week

One major decision in the Fantasy Premier League squad of the gameweek is to select no City assets - indeed, that includes Haaland!

Our budget are required to invest heavily on Arsenal assets as they face at home one of the poorest sides in English top-flight recent memory.

It's true, Manchester City smashed a total of five goals on their last away fixture, but this time they take on Palace, who have the second-strongest defence in the division for goals allowed and fourth-best in relation of xGC.

And the Gunners hosting Wolverhampton is the sort of encounter you must attack - the best side in the league against one lacking of momentum, technical ability and confidence.

This lineup of the week is selected based on current FPL prices to fit within a £100m budget, as if you were using a Free Hit.

How did Last Week's Lineup Do?

The captain didn't deliver but big points from Bruno Fernandes (18), Ruben Dias (14), Phil Foden (12) and James Tarkowski (9), along with a fortunate 16-point Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall bench appearance resulted in a huge 83 points total. Boom!

Fantasy Premier League Lineup of the Gameweek for Fixture 16

Keeper and Defence

Robin Roefs, Sunderland, goalkeeper, £4.7m - Newcastle United (h)

This long-awaited Tyne-Wear derby in the top flight for eight years is going to be loud, fiery, combative - and it could be one of those tight games that is all drama but minimal goalmouth action.

A scenario that would render Roefs, third in the goalkeeper scoring charts, a good shout.

Ben White, the Gunners, £5.2m - Wolverhampton (h)

An Arsenal defender is a essential pick for this fixture. Wolves have just one goal on the road so far and a single goal in their past six matches.

Ben White is a great offensive threat when he is given his opportunity. He started the last two at right-back, had a fourteen-point return against the Bees and leads the charts in that time among Arsenal defenders with two big chances created, two shots in the box and an xGI of 0.7.

Marc Cucurella, Chelsea, £6.2m - the Toffees (h)

Everton are erratic so this selection is focused more on the Blues'defence and the Spaniard's potential.

The London club have the fourth-strongest defensive record while Cucurella has created more opportunities (nineteen) than any defensive player in the division.

And he hasn't scored this season, having netted five times the previous campaign.

Dalot, Manchester United, £4.4m - the Cherries (home)

You shouldn't have great expectations for a Manchester United shutout - they have one all season - but the Cherries'scoring have slowed down in the last two games.

Crucially, the Portuguese defender has been occupying some incredibly attacking positions as left wing-back in the last three fixtures.

In those matches he's taken four shots, 2 big chances, a goal and an assist. He missed a cracking chance at Wolverhampton on Monday as well.

Midfield

Bukayo Saka (captain), Arsenal, £10.2m - Wolves (home)

This fixture against Wolverhampton is too juicy to ignore and that makes Bukayo Saka, the Gunners'best offensive asset a must-have.

No stats needed to back this up. United had 27 shots at Wolves on Monday night, scored 4 and might have had twice as many.

The Gunners will be keen to attack.

Rice, Arsenal, £7.1m - Wolverhampton (h)

Just a single point behind Bruno Fernandes in the midfield scoring list, Rice is incredibly reliable for the Gunners.

With more license to attack this season, he's generated more chances than any other Arsenal player (27) and has five assists to his name.

He's also the most reliable for minutes as Mikel Arteta might view this fixture as a opportunity to rotate his players.

Fernandes, United, £9m - Bournemouth (h)

The Portuguese playmaker may have taken over from Antoine Semenyo as the essential Fantasy Premier League midfielder.

Match-up proof, always a shout for defensive contribution points and with several routes to FPL returns.

Cole Palmer, Chelsea, £10.3m - Everton (h)

This week's differential pick, Palmer has his first full ninety minutes under his belt after a long layoff and we are aware what an high-scoring fantasy player he can be.

You sense that, as quickly as he has one good game, FPL managers will be rushing to sign him up.

He was absent for the Blues'European loss at Atalanta, but that was the club managing his minutes so he ought to be well-rested for the Toffees.

Ouattara, Brentford, £6m - Leeds United (home)

Leeds United enter this game following two great home performances against Chelsea and Liverpool, but on the road they have conceded three goals for every one they've netted.

This is probably the winger's last match before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations.

He's been outstanding for the Bees this season, and has 5 goal contributions in his past 3 home matches.

Forwards

Igor Thiago, the Bees, £6.9m - Leeds (home)

It has been a disappointing couple of weeks for Thiago FPL managers, with only 3 points in two matches.

However, he's the second goal scorer in the division and has seven strikes in 7 home games. He is the prime striker choice this week and, with a favourable run of games, you can select and hold until the end of January at least.

Hugo Ekitike, the Reds, £8.4m - Brighton (h)

It is expected that Arne Slot keeps faith with the young Frenchman, after his brace haul at Leeds.

He performed strongly at the start of the campaign and you can't help but think what he would have done had a rival striker not been signed and competed with him for minutes at the number nine role.
